Job description

NDi is seeking a skilled AWS Systems Administrator to design, deploy, and maintain our Windows- and Unix-based server environments within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem. You will be responsible for ensuring the high availability, security, and performance of our cloud infrastructure while automating routine administrative tasks to improve operational efficiency., * Deploy, configure, and manage Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022) on AWS EC2 instances.

  • Administer essential AWS services including VPC, S3, EBS, IAM, Route 53, and Elastic Load Balancing (ELB).
  • Manage Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and IAM roles/policies to ensure secure user access.
  • Develop advanced PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Proactively use CloudWatch and AWS Config to identify bottlenecks and right-size instances to control costs.
  • Implement security best practices, including regular vulnerability assessments, and managing Security Groups/NACLs including orchestrating enterprise-wide patching and configuration using AWS Systems Manager (SSM) and Maintenance Windows.
  • Establish and test robust backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Create and maintain documentation of all platform service processes, procedures, and artifacts.
  • Support the design, build, and testing of application upgrades in support of customer requirements.
  • Participate in disaster recovery (DR) planning and execution in support of customer requirements.
  • Support data center consolidation efforts.
  • Deploy new tools as identified

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * US Citizenship is required.

  • Must possess an active Top-Secret clearance at the time of application.
  • This position is currently 100% remote, with periodic requirements to report to the customer location in Washington, DC., * Master's Degree w/5+ years' experience or Bachelor's degree and 7+ years' experience.
  • 3-5 years in Windows Administration, with at least 2 years of solid, hands-on AWS experience.
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate (Required) or Solutions Architect - Associate (Preferred).
  • Proficiency with RDP, WinRM, AWS CLI, and at least one CI/CD tool (like Jenkins or AWS CodePipeline).
  • Proficiency in Windows Server architecture and core services (DNS, DHCP, IIS).
  • Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates for CloudFormation or Terraform to automate environment builds, moving away from manual console tweaks.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VPNs, subnets).
  • Expertise in patching, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), and continuous monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of Windows SysAdmin Tools such as PERFMON, Resource Monitor, PsExec, Event Log Viewer, Process Monitor, Task Scheduler, RegEdit.exe, net.exe, sc.exe, etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities and Root Cause Analysis for any system.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize critical tasks.
  • Support on a M-F business hours schedule in the US Eastern time zone.
  • Extended hour, weekend, and on-call support as required by mission or emergencies

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with VMWare.
  • Experience with using ITSM for ticketing and change management (ServiceNow specifically).
  • PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with network monitoring and connectivity tools (e.g. Wireshark, netstat.exe, ping.exe and tracert.exe, etc.)
