Job description

Job Summary: The candidate will report to the hiring manager and take responsibility for providing support to personnel on project sites, being up to date on their knowledge of security and life safety systems as it pertains the projects worked on in this role., + Provide accurate controls of special systems start-up and commissioning including point-to-point checkout on projects as assigned. Verify correct alarm, annunciation, and other actions by equipment, devices, panels, and annunciators of Special Systems projects.

  • Support installation personnel on project sites.

  • Provide information and support for other contractors on project site.

  • Troubleshoot installation issues during both the startup, commissioning, and servicing of building special systems.

  • Provide input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning, and training for building systems.

  • Ensure timely software backups are created for projects, service and software development.

  • Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building occupancy codes.

  • Provide service support on existing systems insuring their proper and efficient operation as well as providing ongoing support to the facility's building engineers.

  • Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Assist in preparing of as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.

  • Assist in turnover of projects from Operations Team to Service Team.

  • Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations.

  • Willing and able to be on call for 24-hour emergency response.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • 5 years of experience in installing and servicing security solutions.

  • 5 years of experience with "SoftwareHouse C-Cure 9000".

  • Proficiency in computer operating systems, including the MS Office Suite of products.

  • Ability to work with electronic equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, and oscilloscopes.

  • Competence in troubleshooting basic electrical and electronic circuitry, including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.

  • Understanding of AC power circuitry, including breakers and multi-phase power systems (120VAC and greater).

  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to empathize with others' issues and perceptions and to creatively and effectively work through these issues to achieve successful outcomes and ensure customer and employee satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical degree in related studies.

  • At least 5 years of experience in installing and servicing security solutions.

  • 5 years of experience with Lenel or Lenel Certification, Genetec or Genetec Certification, or Avigilon or Avigilon Certification.

  • Led troubleshooting and resolution for installation issues on a minimum of 10 large-scale Software House system deployments .

  • Provided direct mentoring and supervision to at least 3 junior technical staff (Level I) in Software House system operations and project deliverables .

  • Demonstrated proficiency by routinely performing and verifying point-to-point checkout for at least 20 systems per year, including software backups and programming on Software House equipment .

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of power tools will be required to effectively perform this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet) .
