Job description
Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks a Senior System Validation Engineer to guarantee the compliance of complex systems (multi signaling technologies, mostly consolidated technology solutions) to the customer requirements and to build the required System Validation evidences in compliance with project schedules and budgets.
This position is for a roving employee who will work in unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location.
Accountabilities
Specific duties include:
(1) defining the strategy of ATC (Automatic Train Control) integration and validation testing as well as preparing and managing laboratory testing activity schedules;
(2) performing analysis and validation of requirements (functional and non-functional, architectural, software, and hardware) allocated to safety critical systems and applications;
(3) preparing the documentary set relating to the overall set of System Validation activities;
(4) preparing and executing test activities in laboratory environments and setting up platforms (SW/HW);
(5) executing functional and integration tests;
(6) performing verification/debugging of SW/HW anomalies and errors by means of logs analysis;
(7) ensuring traceability between requirements, test cases, and validation results;
(8) defining and coordinating System Validation activities related to system level operational scenarios;
(9) collaborating with design and development teams to clarify issues and support problem solving; and
(10) providing support for preliminary commissioning and integration activities.
Requirements
Must have experience with:
(1) test strategy definition and laboratory management;
(2) requirements analysis, verification and validation on CBTC projects;
(3) validation documentation development;
(4) setting up and deploying test platforms, simulators, virtual machines, and network configurations;
(5) functional and integration testing execution in different CBTC projects;
(6) debugging and anomaly investigation; and
(7) requirements traceability management.
Must have knowledge of:
(1) Cenelec 50126/128/129 norms; and
(2) the Communication-Based Train Control System (CBTC) for CBTC based projects.
Education/Qualifications
Must have:
(1) Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Robotics is required,
as well as
(2) Five (5) years of laboratory, factory, and platform experience as a signaling engineer or system integration and validation engineer in or for the railway industry.
