Senior Java Developer

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our client's team working on loyalty services in the hospitality industry. This role focuses on building and maintaining web services that power member rewards programs, including issuing and redeeming points, integrating with new systems, and adding innovative features.

Responsibilities Include:

• Design and develop backend services using Java (8, 17, or 21)

• Build and maintain REST APIs, middleware, and server-side components

• Collaborate with UI team (Angular-based internal apps) to ensure seamless API communication

• Work on loyalty technology solutions, including web services for member data and rewards

• Implement new API sets for system integrations

• Contribute to full-stack development, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure Perform documentation and testing for new features and integrations

• Participate in daily stand-ups, ad hoc calls, and team collaboration

• 7-10+ years of experience in software development

• Strong backend development expertise in Java

• Solid experience with scripting with Python

• Database experience with SQL

• Solid understanding of API design principles and best practices for RESTful services

• Experience with middleware frameworks and server-side architecture

• Familiarity with Angular for front-end integration (even if minimal)

• Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code and AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.)

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies

• Ability to write unit tests and integration tests for backend services

• Understanding of security best practices for APIs and cloud environments

• Proficiency in version control systems (Git)

• Experience with Agile methodologies (daily stand-ups, ad hoc collaboration)

Ability to create and maintain technical documentation for APIs and integrations - Hospitality industry experience is a plus

• Bachelor's in a related field, additional certifications

• Practical experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude code and GitHub Copilot - Experience using these tools in enterprise environments or side projects is highly valued

• Self-motivated and proactive; able to work independently and drive initiatives forward

• Comfortable asking questions and seeking help when needed

• Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills

• Any experience with NoSQL (MongoDB/DocumentDB/DynamoDB)
