Job description
A leading utility company is launching a high-impact ECC ? S/4HANA transformation and is seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect to provide business-led SAP architecture leadership across the enterprise. This role owns the SAP target operating model and migration strategy, partners closely with executive leadership, and ensures SAP enables business priorities, regulatory needs, and long-term scalability.
This is a strategic architecture role, focused on enterprise alignment, decision making, and executive communication.
What You'll Do
- Own SAP enterprise architecture from a business perspective
Define the S/4HANA target state aligned to business capabilities, operating models, and regulatory requirements across the utility enterprise.
- Set and lead the ECC ? S/4HANA migration strategy
Partner with business and IT leadership to evaluate Greenfield, Brownfield, or Selective approaches; define the multi-year roadmap, sequencing, and success metrics; and govern execution.
- Act as the primary SAP architecture advisor to executives
Translate complex architectural decisions into clear business impacts, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations for VPs, ELT members, and steering committees.
- Drive cross-functional alignment
Coordinate architecture decisions across Finance, Supply Chain, Asset Management, Field Operations, Customer, Regulatory, and IT to ensure SAP enables end-to-end business processes.
- Guide data and integration strategy at the enterprise level
Define principles for data ownership, migration scope, cutover approach, and integration patterns - while partnering with delivery teams who execute the technical work.
- Establish architecture governance and decision frameworks
Lead architecture reviews, define standards and guardrails, and ensure solution teams align with the agreed enterprise vision without becoming a bottleneck.
- Measure and communicate progress
Define KPIs, dependencies, and risk mitigations; provide concise, executive-ready updates on roadmap health, readiness, and key decisions.
Requirements
- 10+ years in SAP leadership or enterprise architecture roles, with demonstrated ownership of large, cross-functional initiatives

Proven experience leading ECC ? S/4HANA transformations at the strategy and roadmap level, not just delivery execution

Strong background partnering with VP- and ELT-level stakeholders, influencing decisions and aligning technology strategy to business outcomes

Ability to frame architecture in business terms: value, risk, cost, compliance, scalability, and operational impact

Experience establishing enterprise architecture governance, standards, and decision-making models across multiple business units

Solid understanding of SAP Activate and program governance concepts (hands-on configuration not required)

Exceptional communication skills - able to simplify complex topics and drive alignment across business and IT - Experience in utilities or regulated industries, including asset-intensive operations and field services
Benefits & conditions
Contract role with an hourly rate range of $75-90/hr, based on experience
