Linux Systems Engineer

I have a long term contract opportunity for a Linux Engineer to join one of our global enterprise organizations based in East Hartford, CT.

The responsibility of this position is to oversee and assist with major project initiatives, as well as provide support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). This position requires in-depth knowledge of the RHEL 7.x/8.xThe position requires superior troubleshooting skills, capacity and performance experience and reporting, a thorough understanding of network protocols, implementation experience in the user of highly available applications, experience with Red Hat is a must.

This role is 4 days onsite, 1 day remote.

$60-$70/hr

Responsibilities:

• Provide day to day operational support for the Linux (Red Hat) environments
• Patch, upgrade and maintain the OS
• Ensure all systems maintain correct configurations. Make recommendations for operational improvements
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for our installed technical solutions.
• As a member of the OS Support team, you will be providing incident support for all Linux systems on a rotating basis
• Monitor the various application work queues, and complete the incoming requests in a timely manner
• Participate in root cause analysis bridges and provide technical assistance when required
• Frequently monitor and review system capacities

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, or a related study, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience of Red Hat Linux OS / Kali / SUSE
• Strong knowledge of AWS technologies, AWS certification preferred
• Expert in the understanding of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system
• Comprehensive understanding of Red Hat Satellite, and Kickstart
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc)
• Strong understanding of files systems, concepts, and logical volume management
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• Must be a team player
