Job description

The Intermediate Front-End Web Developer is a pivotal member of our development team, playing a core role in building and maintaining the React-based web applications taken on by the Bayer Ecosystem Services team. This includes all Combyne portals as well as the existing BES portals (Carbon Lifecycle Portal and Forground by Bayer). They are expected to work with a high degree of autonomy, owning the development and timely delivery of significant front-end features and components., They are responsible for proactively collaborating with the product team to clarify requirements and translating those specifications into working, high-quality features. Day-to-day work involves collaborating with both front-end and back-end web developers and the product design team to launch new features and improve existing ones. Furthermore, the Intermediate Front-End Web Developer provides technical guidance and code reviews to any Junior Front-End Web Developers on the team, assisting them in their growth., The primary responsibilities of this role are to

  • Develop new features for the Web app
  • Work closely with both development and product teams
  • Review User Stories prior to development
  • Participate in daily scrums, and weekly sprint meetings
  • Provide bug fixes for existing features
  • Write and execute unit tests
  • Peer review code from other members of the team
  • Support the planning, feature estimation, and scoping of development work
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely delivery of new features

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in Web app development (not just static web)
  • 3+ years in the ag-tech industry with a solid understanding of the basics of the crop lifecycle
  • 3+ years of experience and fluency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, RESTful web services, and React JS
  • Experience using Git as a version control system
  • Experience in responsive layout implementation
  • Familiar with front-end debugging tools using Chrome dev tools or equivalent
  • Experience working in an Agile Delivery model
  • Experience with Webpack, NodeJS, Tanstack Start, ES2021, Sass or Less
  • Experience with automated testing
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with ambitious timelines and lofty goals (startup-like culture)

Benefits & conditions

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $96k-135k. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive program (if relevant).
