Job description
MITRE's Enterprise Technology's Cloud and Systems Infrastructure Department is seeking a Senior Container Platform Engineer. This position provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for a motivated technical candidate looking to be part of a collaborative team that operates and maintains Kubernetes-based platform environments and assists with DevOps pipelines for containerized enterprise applications. The candidate will also work closely with developers and enable them to continuously integrate and deploy their code on stable enterprise platforms, both on premises and in the cloud.
Roles & Responsibilities:

Deploying, managing, maintaining, and operating container-based platform environments based on Kubernetes technology.

Working with MITRE developers and product managers to create and optimize secure pipelines to deliver container-based business capabilities better, faster, and more safely.

Working with other team members to use automation and DevOps practices to fundamentally improve the way we currently deliver IT services.

Ensuring appropriate processes are in place to meet compliance requirements.

Contributing to our enterprise shift toward the cloud by leveraging platform-as-a-service capabilities to facilitate faster software delivery with better reliability and security
Requirements

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science mathematics or similar technical degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

Hands-on experience with Kubernetes-based container technology.

Hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas:
-
Software development with languages such as Python and shell scripting
-
DevOps
-
Automated software delivery pipelines using continuous integration/delivery principles

IT automation
-
Self-motivated, curious, and collaborative, with a passion to routinely learn new technologies and develop new skills.

Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance with first year.

Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.

This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:

Significant experience with enterprise Kubernetes container technology (OpenShift experience preferred) and managing enterprise container platforms

Familiarity with container vulnerability scanning tools and remediation

Experience with continuous integration and delivery pipelines, workflows, and associated tools, such as GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, etc.

Experience with compliance frameworks to protect sensitive data (e.g., NIST 800-171, CMMC, etc.)

Familiarity with scripting and automation tools, such as shell scripts, Python, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Argo CD, or other similar tools/languages

Familiarity with cloud container platform technology and/or serverless technology

Good written and oral communication skills, to include ability to effectively develop technical support documentation
