Job description
The Technical Product Owner is responsible for strategic product planning, backlog management, and solution design for a suite of cloud-native, AWS-based platforms supporting Investments and Investments Accounting. Acting as the voice of the customer for technology delivery teams, this role partners closely with business product managers and Investments stakeholders to define product vision, roadmaps, and features that align to business outcomes.
The role combines strong domain knowledge, technical expertise, and agile practices to translate complex business needs into scalable, user-centric solutions. The Product Owner leads solution design for new capabilities and ensures successful delivery through close collaboration with business, technology, and governance partners.
Principle Duties
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Partner with business product managers and Investments leadership to define product vision and maintain aligned product roadmaps
- Contribute to technology roadmaps that leverage enterprise platforms, frameworks, and portfolio capabilities
- Ensure proposed solutions align to business objectives and demonstrate clear value and cost-benefit drivers
Solution Design & Delivery
- Lead design of new product features and capabilities, starting with problem definition and business need
- Translate business requirements into well-defined features, user stories, and acceptance criteria for delivery teams
- Communicate complex concepts using storyboards, process flows, and other visual or interactive techniques
- Recommend and advocate for user-centric solutions, including influencing stakeholders toward optimal approaches
Backlog & Agile Practices
- Own and maintain the product backlog, collaborating with the business product manager on prioritization and sequencing
- Apply RGA's Product Framework and Agile best practices to drive iterative, outcome-focused delivery
- Serve as a technical liaison to ensure accurate interpretation of requirements throughout the development lifecycle
- Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a key partner across Investments, IT, and enterprise stakeholders to identify needs and define effective solutions
- Lead or contribute to cross-divisional and cross-regional solution strategy planning
- Support intake and governance processes to ensure transparency, alignment, and effective decision-making
Value Measurement & Enablement
- Define business objectives, solution goals, and success measures for delivered capabilities
- Partner with functional leads to ensure technology solutions are effectively embedded into business processes
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and engaged team environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Arts, or Sciences (or equivalent experience) - Required
Work Experience
- 10+ years of combined business and technical experience - Required
- Previous experience supporting business teams from an IT perspective - Required
- Experience in system design with a strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles - Required
Certifications
- AWS Level 1 Certification - Preferred

Required Technical Skills
- Ability to own and evolve product roadmaps for AWS-hosted platforms, balancing user needs, security, and operational stability
- Strong understanding of cloud platform concepts and managed services sufficient to inform prioritization and trade-off decisions
- Ability to translate stakeholder and "citizen developer" needs into well-defined, prioritized backlog items
- Working knowledge of modern software delivery practices, including containerization, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code, to effectively partner with engineering teams
- Understanding of data orchestration and pipeline concepts, including ETL workflows, scheduling, and dependencies
- Experience operating in enterprise or regulated technology environments, with sensitivity to compliance, security, and resilience
- Strong communication and documentation skills to enable platform adoption and self-service usage

Compensation Range: $107,060.00 - $159,390.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
