TxDOT has issued a request for a Citrix & AVD Administrator to support enterprise VDI operations with a focus on day-to-day administration, advanced troubleshooting, licensing, and end-user support across Citrix and AVD platforms. This role works closely with server, network, firewall, security, and EUC teams to resolve performance, connectivity, authentication, and application issues in high-availability environments. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on VDI support experience, strong AD and GPO knowledge, and the ability to diagnose infrastructure issues end to end across Citrix and Azure Virtual Desktop environments., * Review and evaluate business systems and user needs, and design solutions that align with strategic objectives and improve operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and apply industry-standard methodologies to reengineer workflows using technology.
- Document user requirements, system functionalities, and perform solution analysis including cost-benefit, ROI, and build vs. buy evaluations., We are seeking a highly experienced Citrix & Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Administrator to support and administer enterprise virtual desktop environments. This role is responsible for day to day operations, advanced troubleshooting, and solutioning within Citrix and AVD platforms, working closely with end users and multiple infrastructure teams to ensure stability, performance, and availability.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and proven experience supporting large scale VDI environments in an enterprise setting.
Administer, maintain, and support Citrix and AVD environments Troubleshoot user, performance, connectivity, and application issues across VDI platforms Analyze issues end-to-end, identify root cause, and implement durable solutions Manage and support Citrix and AVD licensing
Coordinate closely with:
Server / Infrastructure teams Network and Firewall teams Security teams End User Computing (EUC) teams
Work directly with end users to diagnose issues and restore service quickly Participate in on-call support, including coordination with offshore support teams Provide clear technical documentation and knowledge transfer as needed
On Call: Required (including coordination with offshore teams), Hands on experience administering Citrix and/or Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments in production

Extensive experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex issues within Citrix and AVD platforms

Citrix licensing and AVD licensing models

Active Directory integration (authentication, group membership, GPO dependencies)

Group Policy design, application, and troubleshooting

Firewall rules and network connectivity required for Citrix and AVD components

Experience supporting environments with High availability requirements and Enterprise security and compliance controls

Demonstrated experience working in on call rotations and supporting offshore or after hours teams
Requirements
Note: must have state client experience., * 6+ years of hands-on experience administering Citrix and/or Azure Virtual Desktop environments in production.
- 6+ years troubleshooting complex Citrix and AVD issues, including performance, connectivity, authentication, and user access problems.
- 6+ years supporting Active Directory, Group Policy, licensing, firewall rules, and enterprise security requirements in high-availability VDI environments.
Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:
- Experience supporting large government or other regulated enterprise environments.
- Experience with Azure infrastructure supporting Azure Virtual Desktop.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools used for VDI performance, uptime, and user experience.
