Job description

Who Staffing is looking for an IT Systems Administrator for a fulltime, direct hire opportunity with our client in Baltimore, MD. This position is Mon-Thurs onsite with remote work on Fridays., This is a hands-on role focused on Microsoft 365, identity, and endpoint administration, with significant Tier 3 escalation support responsibilities. The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining secure, reliable systems while resolving complex technical issues and mentoring junior staff. This role requires strong operational ownership, technical depth, and the ability to work across both systems administration and advanced support functions., Systems Administration:

· Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, and related platforms

· Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP

· Configure and support endpoints using Intune and/or endpoint management tools

· Maintain system configurations, standards, and baseline builds

· Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; proactively resolve issues

Security, Backup & Recovery:

· Implement and maintain security controls across cloud and on-prem systems

· Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening

· Administer endpoint protection and security tools (e.g., EDR, MDM)

· Monitor backup jobs, validate backup integrity, and perform regular restore testing

· Support incident response and participate in security investigations

Tier 3 Support & Collaboration:

· Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues across systems and user environments

· Troubleshoot and resolve advanced issues spanning identity, endpoints, and Microsoft 365 services

· Mentor junior IT staff and guide troubleshooting and resolution efforts

· Communicate effectively with users and stakeholders during issue resolution

· Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and partners on technical issues and improvements

Documentation, Projects & Process Improvement:

· Maintain accurate technical documentation, system diagrams, and SOPs

· Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments

· Identify and implement improvements to enhance system reliability, security, and efficiency

· Contribute to standardization and operational maturity across the IT environment

Requirements

· 3-5+ years of hands-on systems administration experience (not entry-level)

· Proven experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments

· Experience administering Windows Server and Active Directory

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of:

· Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Exchange Online, identity and access management)

· Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy

· Endpoint management tools (Intune, ManageEngine, or similar)

Experience with:

· Security controls, patching, and vulnerability management

· Backup and disaster recovery processes

· Troubleshooting complex system and user issues

Soft Skills:

· Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

· Clear and effective technical communication (written and verbal)

· Ability to work independently and take ownership of systems and issues

· Ability to mentor and support junior team members

Preferred Qualifications:

· Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Microsoft 365, Security)

· Experience in hybrid or cloud-first environments

· Exposure to compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, NIST, CMMC)
