Job description

The iSeries role focuses on maintaining, monitoring, and supporting IBM i (iSeries) environments. This includes handling incidents, ensuring uptime, performing routine maintenance, and escalating complex issues to higher support tiers. The role ensures smooth system operations, security, and optimal performance. This role requires strong IBM i technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment., System Monitoring & First Line Support

  • Monitor IBM iSeries environments and ensure adherence to service-level standards.
  • Manage incident, problem, change, and request tickets in systems like ServiceNow..

Performance, Health, and Availability

  • Maintain the health of iSeries systems including Power8/Power9/Power10 servers.
  • Monitor CPU, DASD usage, and system performance; identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Provide support for messaging services and secure system environments.

System Maintenance & Upgrades

  • Assist with hardware/software upgrades, fixes, and patching.
  • Support system enhancements and configuration management.
  • Conduct regular audits and help implement security measures.

System & Network Skills

  • Experience with TCP/IP, network monitoring, and related tools.

Requirements

Required Skills & Technical Expertise: 4+ years of strong experience on:

  • Core iSeries
  • Expert knowledge in IBM iSeries/
  • Experience with IBM VIOS, SAN replication, external storage, and MQ (preferred)., Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
