Network Engineer (Senior)

Emergent Technologies Inc., a veteran-owned IT and engineering services firm based in Herndon, VA, is seeking a skilled Network Engineer with at least six years of experience in network architecture, deployment, and support. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity to contribute to innovative, mission-driven technology solutions across government and enterprise environments. Required Education & Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (preferred) Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in network engineering, design, and operations Core Technical Expertise Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience and proficiency in the following areas: Network architecture, design, and implementation for enterprise or large-scale environments Core network technologies: Routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP, ISIS Switching protocols: STP, LACP, VTP Network automation and scripting for configuration and management Cloud networking environments, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Software-defined networking (SD-WAN) solutions Knowledge of deploying and supporting MPLS networks Communication & Documentation Skills Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members Skilled in producing technical documentation, including design diagrams, implementation plans, and operational procedures Comfortable presenting technical designs to review boards and leadership teams Professional Traits Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues Proven ability to learn and implement new technologies independently Self-motivated, independent learner with a commitment to technical excellence Preferred Qualifications Experience with network design and operations in large-scale, multi-site environments History of improving network performance, reliability, and scalability Willingness to embrace and adopt emerging technologies and tools
