Power BI Developer

The Power BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI and related Microsoft data technologies. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and solution architects to translate business requirements into high-quality, and secure dashboards and reports that support operational and executive decision-making.

The ideal candidate is experienced in data modeling, DAX, and report design, with a strong understanding of modern Microsoft analytics platforms (Power BI Service, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services) and best practices for governance, security, and performance., Power BI Development & Reporting

• Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that effectively communicate insights to business and executive audiences
• Develop reusable semantic models using Power BI datasets and dataflows
• Write and optimize DAX measures, calculated columns, and KPI logic
• Implement consistent visual design standards and usability best practices
• Manage Power BI workspaces, apps, and deployment pipelines

Data Modeling & Integration

• Design dimensional and tabular data models (star/snowflake schemas)
• Integrate data from multiple sources including SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, SharePoint, Excel, and APIs
• Partner with data engineering teams to ensure clean, well-documented, and performant data sources
• Validate data accuracy, completeness, and refresh reliability

Governance, Security & Performance

• Implement row-level security (RLS) and enforce least-privilege access models
• Optimize datasets and reports for performance and scalability
• Follow governance standards for naming, versioning, and workspace organization
• Support audits and compliance requirements, particularly in public-sector environments

Stakeholder Collaboration & Delivery

• Translate business and technical requirements into BI solutions
• Work directly with clients, product owners, and internal teams to refine requirements and deliver iterative improvements
• Provide documentation, user training, and reporting standards guidance
• Support production deployments and ongoing enhancements

Technical Skills

• 3+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience
• Strong DAX expertise (measures, time intelligence, performance tuning)
• Experience with Power BI Service, datasets, dataflows, and deployment pipelines
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure analytics services (Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory)
• Understanding of data modeling best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Direct Lake)
• Familiarity with Power BI Copilot and AI-assisted analytics
• Experience in government, healthcare, or regulated industries
• Microsoft certifications (PL-300, DP-600, AZ-900, or similar)
• Exposure to Agile or RAD-based delivery methodologies

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field
• Equivalent combination of education and professional experience considered
