Job description
As an IT Systems Engineer I at Dallas College, you will be a key player in implementing, maintaining, and supporting our IT infrastructure. You'll ensure our enterprise technology systems-including administrative, educational, and audio-visual technologies-are reliable, secure, and efficient. You will be responsible for ensuring our systems effectively meet the college's business and educational objectives., * Install, configure, and deploy hardware and software, including storage systems, networking devices, operating systems, and end-user devices.
- Perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of all IT systems.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and user guides.
- Keep accurate records of system changes and maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues with minimal oversight.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other IT staff and end-users.
- Monitor system performance and capacity, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Maintain and implement security measures to protect IT systems from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Ensure compliance with all security policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with various teams across the organization to understand requirements, configure, and test new IT solutions.
- Research and evaluate innovative technologies to improve IT infrastructure and operations.
- Evaluate hardware and software products to determine their suitability for the organization's needs.
- Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
- Perform duties as assigned, maintaining all standards in accordance with Dallas College policies and procedures.
Additional Required Duties:
- Dallas College professional development hours per academic year
- All employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours
- People leaders are required an additional 16 hours of leadership development.
- Perform other duties not listed as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
- Self-motivated and able to manage and prioritize tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in environments with audio-visual equipment and varying light conditions., * Bachelor's degree OR 5 years equivalent of experience in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- CompTIA A+ or CAPM certifications are preferred.
- Official transcripts will be required.
- Ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure of Dallas College.
