IT Network Engineer

Client is seeking an outgoing and proactive IT Network Engineer to support and manage enterprise network infrastructure in a hybrid environment (Oakland, with 12 days onsite per week). This role focuses on firewall operations, network security, and infrastructure support, requiring strong communication skills and hands-on expertise with Palo Alto and F5 technologies. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, highly communicative, and confident in taking initiative in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

• Configure, manage, and support firewall technologies including Palo Alto and related platforms
• Create, update, and maintain firewall rules, policies, and security zones
• Perform firewall upgrades, patching, and ongoing operational support
• Support network infrastructure including switching, routing, and load balancing
• Provide mid-to-high tier support for F5 Local Traffic Manager (LTM) and Palo Alto firewalls
• Assist in firewall migration activities from legacy configurations to new environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve network and security-related issues
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and stable network operations
• Contribute to continuous improvement of network security policies and performance

• 5+ years of experience with Palo Alto (PAN) technologies
• 4+ years of experience in network engineering (switching, routing, load balancing, firewalls)
• Strong hands-on experience with firewall operations, policy creation, and upgrades
• Experience supporting F5 LTM or similar load balancing technologies (preferred)
• Deep understanding of cybersecurity concepts including network and application security, compliance, and risk management
• Experience deploying, configuring, and administering F5 BIG-IP or Palo Alto firewall solutions
• Advanced knowledge of system architecture, computer networks, and software
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with a proactive and outgoing personality
