Job description
As a IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION)-TITLE 32, GS-2210-11, you will analyze requirements, monitor performance, resolve problems, and develop recovery procedures. Install, configure, and maintain servers and server resources. Install and upgrade operating systems and software packages IAW Army standards. Develop and maintain database of hardware and software configurations. Conduct hardware and software audits and maintain system configurations. Monitor and manage the performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability of installed servers and server resources. Implement security procedures and tools. Resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability problems, and ensure server functionality, integrity, and efficiency. Resolve inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies. Provide technical assistance and training to users minimizing disruptions of computer operations. Analyze, evaluate, and resolve malfunctions, You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard. You must be assigned to a compatible military position. Wear of the military uniform. Position may require a pre-employment physical. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position may be located on a tobacco free facility. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in DOD instruction 8570.01-M. Must obtain and maintain Security+ Certification within six (9) months of appointment.
Requirements
Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems., Must have at least 36 months experience assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience with analysis and design techniques to develop system software modifications, systems administration policy, and procedures for use across the organization. Experience using software technology and related computer equipment to perform studies and to evaluate system changes. Must have Security+ Certification to be qualified at the GS-11 level., Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: To qualify for GS-2210 Title 32 Excepted Service positions, on the basis of completed graduate education listed below.
Ph.D. or equivalent -OR- 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
All undergraduate or graduate education must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
