Job description

As our Sr System Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of systems engineers within the Sleep & Respiratory Care segment and combine your technical expertise with leadership skills to advance product safety, drive innovation, and support team development.

Your role:

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of systems, reliability, and usability engineers, setting clear expectations and fostering strong systems thinking across new product development and sustaining engineering programs.
  • Build, mentor, and retain a high performing organization by hiring top talent and coaching systems, reliability, and usability engineers to strengthen technical rigor, systems thinking, and leadership capability.
  • Translate business and R&D strategy into executable systems engineering plans, staffing models, and priorities, providing clear direction on scope, ownership, and execution.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for system level decisions, guiding cross functional teams through architectural, clinical, usability, and product tradeoffs.
  • Oversee systems engineering activities including product architecture development, system and subsystem requirements definition, interface definition, system level risk analysis, and coordinate system build and integration efforts.
  • Drive continuous improvement in systems engineering practices by adopting modern tools, digital workflows, and emerging technologies, including AI enabled methods, to improve efficiency, quality, and decision making.

Requirements

  • You've acquired a minimum of 5 years' experience in Systems Engineering, with a minimum of 1 year experience leading teams, a proven track record of leading and delivering complex systems projects within FDA regulated medical device/systems environments.
  • Your skills include systems engineering tools, systems architecture, and product design for electromechanical devices, supported by hands-on experience in electromechanical systems.
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree, required, in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree desired, INCOSE certification, preferred.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
  • You're an expert at conveying complex topics to key stakeholders, cross functional teams and leadership.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company's facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company's main facilities, generally at the customers' or suppliers' locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The pay range for this position in New Kensington, PA is $126,000 to $202,000.

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered.
