Job description

At Resideo, we're continuing to evolve how technical content is created and delivered. As a Technical Writing Supervisor , you'll lead a team responsible for building clear, scalable documentation used by professional installers, homeowners, and sales teams across our connected home products.

This role brings together people leadership, content strategy, and modern publishing practices . You'll partner closely with product and engineering teams, guide a global team of writers, and help drive a more online-first, single-source approach to documentation.

  • Lead and develop a global team of technical writers through coaching, feedback, and development planning
  • Step into high-priority or at-risk projects to help stabilize and move them forward

Own documentation delivery

  • Oversee the creation of user guides, installation instructions, troubleshooting content, and digital help experiences
  • Ensure content is accurate, consistent, and delivered on time across products and releases
  • Support documentation through the full product lifecycle , including PLM systems, manufacturing, distribution, and online publication
  • Optimize print literature for pros audience.

Shape how content is built

  • Partner with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams to define content scope, priorities, and timelines
  • Drive consistency through templates, taxonomies, and structured content practices across brands and formats
  • Maintain and improve single-sourcing, version control, approvals, and translation workflows using tools like Jira, SharePoint, and Git

Guide and grow capability

  • Support writers in technical skills like HTML, CSS, and structured authoring
  • Coach on core disciplines like information mapping, research, audience analysis, editing, and project management
  • Maintain organized documentation repositories , including project records, assets, and deliverables

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in technical writing, content development, or a related field
  • 3+ years of team leadership experience or equivalent project leadership experience
  • Proven writing and editing skills
  • Proficient project management skills
  • Experience with single-source, multi-channel authoring and publishing platforms for creating web, print, and help content

WE VALUE:

  • Experience with HVAC, plumbing, security systems, or similar technical products
  • Familiarity with Oracle PLM systems
  • Experience working with global or remote teams
  • Multilingual skills or experience supporting localization
  • Experience with DITA, DocBook, XML, XSLT, or similar structured authoring frameworks
  • Experience optimizing structured content for SEO or AI-driven search
