Job description
As a Embedded Software Principal Engineer (AI) , you'll be part of Emedded Software Development Team-working as an Hybrid employee. This position involves working closely with several other teams including Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability and Regulatory. The ideal candidate will be a self-starting individual with experience in low-level embedded firmware design, AI development, AI regulation, and a passion for problem solving, debugging, and helping others.
You'll get to:
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, testable, and maintainable architectures that integrate advanced AI algorithms and autonomous system components into full stack solutions for operational systems.
- Help define and implement policies and procedures for autonomous and AI implementations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the certification with the appropriate regulatory agencies for autonomous and AI-enabled products.
- Technical oversight of suppliers producing autonomous and AI-enabled products.
- Support real-time implementations of autonomy in embedded, virtual, and simulated environments.
- Develop and maintain high-quality code for simulation, visualization, and full stack development for incremental delivery cycles.
- Develop software test plans, procedures, processes, and reports for AI and autonomous system software.
- Training and mentoring junior team members
Requirements
- BSEE, BSCS, BSCE or equivalent (4 years) from accredited computer/electrical engineering college
- Work experience of 12+ years with electronics, software development, and embedded firmware.
- Have experience leading projects that included implementing AI and autonomy algorithms in physical systems.
- Hands-on experience in embedded system (bare metal) design
- Extensive knowledge of developing embedded 8bit/16bit/32bit microcontrollers in C, C++, or ASM.
- Strong understanding of embedded software concepts, including: hard real time processing, process scheduling, cooperative multitasking, interrupt processing, race conditions, RTOS.
- Ability to approach software development with a system-level view.
- Display strong ownership of an objective and work diligently to resolve it, accomplishing unrelated objectives concurrently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence the organization and to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Preferred Experience:
- Strong and proven experience with common motor control techniques, including sensored and sensorless trapezoidal control.
- Strong and proven experience with closed loop control and feedback systems for AC and BLDC motors
- Experience with ARM architectures preferred. Experience with assembly language coding is a plus.
- Experience with lithium ion battery powered systems.
- Have a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or another related technical degree.
- Have a strong knowledge of Quality Assurance methodology and tools.
