Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Architect to join our dynamic team. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing GIS infrastructure to support organizational geospatial needs., System Architecture Design
- Design and develop robust GIS architecture aligned with organizational needs
- Build scalable systems that integrate with existing infrastructure
- Ensure alignment with industry best practices and emerging technologies
Database Management
- Design and manage GIS databases for storage, retrieval, and analysis
- Optimize performance and ensure data integrity
- Stay current with advancements in GIS-related database technologies
Spatial Data Integration
- Integrate spatial data from multiple sources into GIS systems
- Establish and maintain data standards and protocols
Custom Development
- Oversee development of custom GIS applications and tools
- Ensure solutions are user-friendly, scalable, and well-documented
System Maintenance and Support
- Monitor and maintain GIS infrastructure performance
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support
Collaboration
- Partner with IT professionals, data scientists, and stakeholders
- Coordinate with external vendors and consultants as needed
Requirements
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to build scalable GIS solutions that support data-driven decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications (Met/Exceeded)
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Core Competencies
- Data analysis (quantitative and qualitative)
- GIS and spatial tools
- Technical writing
- Survey design and implementation
- Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams, * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field
- Proven experience in a GIS Architect or similar role
- Proficiency in GIS tools (e.g., Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, open-source platforms)
- Strong knowledge of spatial databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial)
- Experience with GIS web services, APIs, and cloud-based solutions
- Familiarity with programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- GIS certification or professional accreditation
- Experience with geospatial analytics and machine learning
- Knowledge of emerging GIS technologies and trends
