Job description
UST is seeking a Senior Ab initio Developer with deep expertise in the Ab Initio suite to oversee and drive a critical Ab Initio upgrade project for one of the leading healthcare providers in the U.S.
The opportunity:

Platform Upgrade Support
-
Contribute to the technical execution of the Ab Initio platform upgrade (GDE, Co>Op, EME, Control Center, MDH, etc.).

Perform impact analysis on existing graphs, plans, and infrastructure components.
-
Assist in identifying deprecated or incompatible components and refactor code accordingly.
-
Support upgrade sequencing, validation, and rollback planning under architectural guidance.

Development & Enhancement
-
Perform hands-on development, enhancement, and refactoring of Ab Initio graphs and components.
-
Optimize existing ETL workflows for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
-
Troubleshoot and resolve upgrade-related defects and integration issues.
-
Develop automation scripts (UNIX/Linux shell scripting) to support deployment and environment setup.

Testing & Validation
-
Execute and support regression, integration, and performance testing during and post-upgrade.
-
Validate metadata integrity and lineage consistency, particularly during EME migrations.
-
Assist in production validation and post-deployment stabilization activities.

Technical Collaboration
-
Work closely with data architects, infrastructure teams, QA, and business stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

Participate in design discussions and provide technical input for high- and low-level design documents.

Support CI/CD and release management processes for data pipelines.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

Maintain detailed technical documentation for upgrade steps, configurations, and development standards.

Provide guidance to junior developers and contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions.

Supporting EME migrations and validating metadata integrity.

Resolving GDE and Co>Op version compatibility issues.

Data Integration & Warehousing

Strong experience with DB2 and PostgreSQL.

Solid understanding of ETL design patterns, data quality validation, and performance tuning.

Experience developing and maintaining high-volume, enterprise-grade data pipelines.

Scripting & Scheduling
-
Strong UNIX/Linux shell scripting skills.
-
Experience with Control-M or other enterprise schedulers.

SDLC & DevOps
-
Strong understanding of SDLC processes in a data engineering environment.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

Experience with version control systems and release management practices.

Ability to contribute to detailed technical design documentation.

UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below., Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines.
