Job description

Summary: The IT System Administrator I provides hands-on, in-office support for core IT systems, cloud services, virtual machines, and SaaS platforms under the guidance of senior administrators. This role supports identity and access management (Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID), Windows virtual machine administration, SaaS application access, and foundational networking. Due to system access and security requirements, this position requires a consistent on-site presence in the Austin office., * Assist with Active Directory administration, including users, groups, OUs, and basic Group Policy tasks

  • Support Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) user lifecycle management (joiners, movers, leavers)
  • Perform password resets, MFA troubleshooting, and access changes following least-privilege principles
  • Assist with file shares, NTFS permissions, and access reviews

Windows Virtual Machine Management

  • Assist with administration and support of Windows-based virtual machines (on prem and/or cloud)
  • Perform routine VM tasks such as:
  • User access changes
  • Service restarts
  • Patch coordination
  • Basic performance and availability checks
  • Assist with VM provisioning, decommissioning, and documentation under senior oversight
  • Escalate OS-level, performance, or application issues appropriately

SaaS Application Administration

  • Support day-to-day administration of enterprise SaaS platforms, including:
  • Zoom Contact Center
  • Zendesk
  • Oracle (cloud-based applications)
  • Jira (and related Atlassian services)
  • Provision and deprovision of user access based on role, approval, and documented procedures
  • Troubleshoot SaaS access issues involving SSO, MFA, permissions, and integrations
  • Perform periodic access reviews and assist with vendor coordination for SaaS support issues

Endpoint & Platform Support

  • Provide on-site support for Windows laptops and desktops
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
  • Support endpoint management tools such as Intune, patching, and endpoint security agents

Networking

  • Perform basic network troubleshooting (wired, wireless, DNS, DHCP, VPN connectivity)
  • Assist with switches, access points, and firewall-related tasks under supervision
  • Escalate complex network issues to Network Administrators

Operations, Security & Compliance

  • Respond to incidents and service requests through the IT ticketing system
  • Follow security, access control, and change management standards
  • Assist with audits, access attestations, and compliance documentation
  • Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours maintenance as required

Documentation & Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate system, VM, and SaaS documentation
  • Document incidents, changes, and troubleshooting steps
  • Work closely with IT Support, Network Administration, Security, and Application Owners

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Up to 2 years of experience may substitute for degree)
  • 1-3 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or help desk roles
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Windows operating systems
  • Active Directory and Entra ID fundamentals
  • SaaS user access management
  • Foundational understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Windows virtual machines in on prem or cloud environments
  • Experience with SaaS platforms such as Zoom, Zendesk, Oracle, or Jira
  • Familiarity with SSO protocols (SAML, OIDC)
  • Experience with Intune or endpoint management solutions
  • Certifications such as:
  • Microsoft AZ 900 / MS 900
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+
