Job description
Genesis10 is currently seeking an Application Systems Monitoring Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC, Plano, TX and Pennington, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This is an application systems monitoring role, working with an application development team, infrastructure operations, and engineering team to develop monitoring solutions that will mimic end-user experience and synthetic transactions. The ideal candidate will need to understand how different components in an application work together, including interactions with middleware, system software, and hardware. This role involves benchmarking key performance indicators, documenting use cases, and creating test and implementation plans., * Develop monitoring solutions that mimic end-user experience and synthetic transactions

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of Development or Architecture experience for multi-tiered business applications
- 2+ years of production systems engineering and/or support role
- Proven experience with Splunk and Dynatrace implementation, design/build of dashboards and alerting
- Knowledge of OS (Windows/Unix) based infrastructure services, processing, monitoring, shell scripts, etc
- Proven experience in application/network performance and availability monitoring
- An excellent communicator and strategic thinker who can link business context to technical reality
- A self-motivated, hands-on, driven individual
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
- Requires Weekend 2nd shift work (AMRS East Coast Hours including Friday & Saturday)
Desired skills:
- Experience with SiteScope, Catchpoint, and AppDynamics is a plus
- Automation skills to reduce manual activities
- Proven team player who can work comfortably in a multicultural environment
- Proven ability to work independently, multi-task and effectively work in a complex environment with a global team structure
- Detail oriented and organized
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in an ambiguous environment and draw and defend results and conclusions
