Job description

As a Senior DevOps Engineer I, you will help operate and improve our infrastructure and development processes, with a strong focus on cloud engineering across GCP and AWS, CI/CD, observability, and automation. You will implement and maintain reliable platforms and tooling, contribute to larger platform features that may span multiple components or teams, and execute operational work with care and consistency. You will work closely with application teams, other platform teams, and a Senior DevOps Engineer II and manager for design input, prioritization, and guidance when trade-offs are broad or ambiguous. Over time, you will take on more independent ownership as your familiarity with our platforms, tooling, and practices deepens.

What You'll Do:

  • Implement, maintain, and operate infrastructure on GCP and AWS using established patterns and standards
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code changes using tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi
  • Deliver larger infrastructure or platform changes that may span multiple services or environments, coordinating dependencies and handoffs with partner teams
  • Build, enhance, and support CI/CD pipelines (Harness or similar) using team playbooks and templates
  • Support deployments across development, staging, and production environments and help troubleshoot pipeline issues
  • Implement and maintain observability using Dynatrace, supporting monitoring, alerting, and incident triage
  • Automate repeatable operational and delivery tasks using scripts, pipelines, and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible)
  • Take ownership of steady, recurring operational work such as maintenance tasks, access hygiene, certificate renewals, and pipeline upkeep
  • Partner with development and operations teams to improve platform reliability, signal quality, and application support
  • Create and improve documentation and runbooks with feedback from senior peers
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation (approximately once every six weeks; rotation frequency depends on team size)

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, platform engineering, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Strong grounding in one cloud and working exposure to the other, or the ability to ramp quickly with support
  • Practical experience with CI/CD platforms such as Harness, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Jenkins
  • Experience with observability tools, including Dynatrace or equivalent platforms
  • Working knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes (or similar orchestration platforms)
  • Experience contributing to infrastructure as code within established patterns
  • Scripting or automation experience using Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages
  • Experience automating infrastructure and workflows in team environments
  • Strong execution discipline, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Clear communication skills and comfort raising blockers early
  • Growth mindset with interest in learning standards and gradually owning larger areas of the platform

Skills That Set You Apart:

  • Experience with internal developer platforms or platform-as-a-service tools (e.g., Backstage, Harness IDP)
  • Understanding of security best practices in cloud and containerized environments
  • Relevant certifications (AWS, GCP, Kubernetes - Associate level or similar)
  • Familiarity supporting database-backed workloads at the platform boundary, such as:
  • Backup and restore support
  • Applying approved runbook changes
  • Helping application teams with migrations or connectivity issues

Note: This role is not a primary DBA position. You will partner with DBAs or data platform teams as needed.
