Job description
As a Housing Specialist at Attentive Care Inc., you will play a key role in helping clients access safe, stable, and affordable housing. You will work closely with clients and support coordinators to assess housing needs, identify appropriate resources, and ensure all services comply with housing regulations. Your efforts will directly impact the quality of life and independence of the individuals we serve., * Assist clients in exploring housing options and securing suitable accommodations.
- Ensure housing practices comply with Fair Housing regulations and other relevant laws.
- Conduct motivational interviews to identify client preferences, goals, and barriers.
- Work with support coordinators to ensure housing plans align with each client's service goals.
- Respond to and manage crisis situations with appropriate interventions and follow-up.
- Provide guidance to clients regarding lease agreements, tenant rights, and housing responsibilities.
- Educate clients and support coordinators on housing programs like LIHTC, Section 8, and local subsidies.
- Coordinate with medical, mental health, educational, and vocational providers to ensure holistic support.
- Offer supportive counseling and assist clients in building community connections (e.g., with family, landlords, neighbors).
- Help clients access transportation to essential appointments and services.
- Assist with budgeting and financial management to help clients maintain housing stability.
- Document housing goals, service plans, progress, and any changes in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred
- Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field (e.g., social work, psychology, counseling, human services) or a Master's degree in a related discipline.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must have housing assistance, property management, or community-based support experience.
- Working knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and housing compliance standards.
- Must have HMIS experience.
- Skilled in crisis management, motivational interviewing, and client advocacy.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills., * Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
