Job description

About Position: The Chief Information Officer (CIO) holds a critical position at Piedmont Health Services (PHS) and is responsible for driving our technology strategy and ensuring operational excellence. The CIO is pivotal in driving digital transformation, managing existing infrastructure, and ensuring data security. Responsibilities include setting policies, managing projects, and leading our information technology (IT) team. The CIO verifies our technology systems are reliable, securable and scalable, and leverages technology to effectively support our programs and provide sustainability. The CIO must make sound financial decisions regarding budget allocation and how to mitigate unmanaged risks successfully. The incumbent must be a visionary leader with extensive experience in information technology that has a passion for driving innovation., * Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and strategic plan.

  • Advise leadership on emerging technologies and digital transformation initiatives across programs and operations.
  • Collaborate with clinical, programmatic, and administrative leaders to integrate technology into patient care, health programs, and community services.
  • Oversee the management of IT operations, including infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity and data management.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize technology initiatives that drive business value.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in IT governance and security.
  • Manage budgets, resources and vendor relationships to regulate technology investments and performance.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the IT department and across the organization.
  • Drive data strategy for clinical outcomes, population health, grant reporting, and performance improvement.
  • Champion the responsible use of data for reporting, impact measurement, and strategic decision-making.
  • Support the use of analytics, dashboards, and reporting tools to improve care delivery and program impact.
  • Promote digital equity and inclusion both internally and across community health programs.
  • Lead innovation efforts around telehealth, mobile health tools, and remote patient monitoring.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field. Master's degree or MBA, preferred.

Experience: 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible IT leadership experience. Experience managing health data privacy, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.

  • Preferred:
  • Experience working in Community Health Centers, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and/or behavioral health nonprofits, preferred.
  • Experience with grant reporting, data dashboards, and/or program evaluation tools, preferred. Demonstrated experience leading or overseeing the implementation of Epic electronic health record (EHR) systems, including project planning, stakeholder coordination, and go-live execution.
  • Strong working knowledge of Epic workflows, modules, and system capabilities.
  • A background in healthcare is highly preferred; candidates with experience in hospital, health system, or other clinical/healthcare organization environments will be given strong consideration
