Job description
Under general supervision, functions as an expert system administrator engaged in installing, configuring and maintaining hardware and operating system software in support of business processing requirements.
Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
- Designs, installs, configures, and maintains operating system servers in support of business requirements.
- Performs software installations and upgrades to hardware and operating system software; maintains in accordance with established information technology policies and procedures.
- Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
- Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Ensures data and media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups.
- Supports media management through internal methods and procedures and use of offsite storage and retrieval services.
- Resolves complex procedural, operational, and technical problems.,
- Ensures the integrity of the infrastructure hardware and operating system software.
- Provides recommendations regarding hardware and system software planning and budgeting.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Duties: -Administer, maintain, and update Windows and/or Linux servers in physical and virtual environments -Maintain, update, and support the REDCap server environment -Perform system upgrades, Synology backups, and recovery testing to ensure data integrity and availability -Serve as administrator for EMS and/or SimIQ systems used for scheduling, simulation, or operational workflows -Package, deploy, and maintain applications using Microsoft Intune -Design, deploy, and manage file server solutions, including permissions, quotas, and access controls -Administer ExamSoft software, including system configuration, user access, and permissions -Administer SPSS software licensing, deployment, and version management
Requirements
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
