Job description
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DB2 Database Administrator to lead the design, migrations, implementation, performance optimization, and operational support of mission-critical DB2 environments. This individual will serve as a technical expert responsible for ensuring database availability, integrity, security, and scalability across enterprise systems., * Administer, configure, and maintain IBM DB2 databases across development, test, and z/OS production environments
- Lead DB2 database migrations and recreate new environments and ensure the proper / accurate transfer of data
- Lead database design reviews and provide guidance on data modeling and indexing
- Conduct performance monitoring, query tuning, and capacity planning
- Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery (DR), and high-availability configurations (HADR)
- Implement database security controls, encryption, and auditing standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents in a 24/7 production environment
- Support application deployments, patching, upgrades, and migrations
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for monitoring, maintenance, and reporting
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application development, and cybersecurity teams
- Participate in on-call rotation as required
Requirements
- 10 years of hands-on DB2 DBA experience
- Deep expertise with DB2 for z/OS
- Strong SQL performance tuning and query optimization skills
- Experience with HADR, replication, and clustering technologies
- Advanced knowledge of backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning
- Experience in large enterprise or financial services environments
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- Understanding of Linux/Unix and/or mainframe environments
