API Developer

Insight Global is seeking senior Java and API professionals to help design, secure, and operate enterprise API gateway platforms supporting high-volume, business-critical services.

This role focuses on API design, gateway configuration, security, traffic management, and production support in large-scale distributed environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support RESTful APIs and API gateway platforms
• Implement API security using OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, and API keys
• Configure routing, transformation, rate limiting, and traffic controls
• Troubleshoot production issues across distributed systems
• Build automation and tooling using Python
• Support API lifecycle management including onboarding and versioning
• Implement monitoring, logging, metrics, and alerting
• Collaborate with application, security, and platform teams
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments

• 6+ years of overall software or platform engineering experience
• 4+ years working with API platforms or API gateways
• Strong Java experience in API or middleware development
• Strong Python experience for automation and scripting
• Experience designing RESTful APIs with versioning and error handling
• Hands-on experience with API gateways such as Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, or Azure APIM
• Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms
• Experience with observability tools and production support
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and automated testing
• Experience in cloud or hybrid environments
