Job description
The Senior Critical Systems Engineer maintains, monitors, and performs preventive maintenance on mission-critical infrastructure in airport operation facility. Working under the direction of the Engineering Team and with Facility Management, ensures continuous operation of fire/life safety, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, controls), electrical (lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, switchgear), emergency backup systems, and water systems. Performs inspections, analyzes system performance, troubleshoots malfunctions, and takes corrective action to maintain optimal equipment operation.
What your day to day will look like:
Perform preventive maintenance and emergency response on critical facility systems. Monitor, adjust, and maintain refrigeration, chilled water, air conditioning, ventilating systems, pumps, valves, piping and filters. Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper equipment operation.
Analyze system operations, determine causes of problems or malfunctions, and implement corrective actions.
Direct and oversee installation and repair of plumbing, piping, electrical systems, pumps, motors, air compressors, heat exchangers, and controls. Wire single and three-phase motors, run conduit, pull wiring, replace bearings and seals, and install electrical controls and motor controls.
Operate and maintain critical equipment including UPS systems, generators, chillers and critical air conditioning units.
Prepare sequences of operation documents and maintain records of critical systems rounds, readings, engineering logs and data sheets. Analyze documentation and report/correct abnormal levels.
Create and utilize SOP documents for all critical activities and prepare scripted work permits and job risk analysis.
Train contractors on building critical functions, work requirements, and emergency escalation procedures. Ensure critical work SOPs and Emergency Response Plans are understood by facility staff, engineers, and contractors.
Participate in continuous training programs and assess operations teams' understanding of systems and sequences of operation.
Monitor operations, conduct ongoing assessments, perform tests and rounds, and analyze data. Assist with change management requests for routine and emergency activities.
Utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for all work performed and update work orders in real time.
Communicate and escalate to Engineering, Corporate Real Estate and IT as required.
Maintain compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, and laws.
Requirements
Minimum 10+ years hands-on experience in critical facility environment
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (or obtain within 90 days of employment)
North American Technician Excellence (NATE) preferred
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Licenses as required by authority having jurisdiction
Must lift up to 80 lbs and climb up to 30 ft ladders
Position requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving
