Journeyman System and Server Administrator

The Journeyman System and Server Administrator supports day-to-day system operations across Linux and Windows environments. The role will support a team lead under the Product Team that is responsible for command patching, complex troubleshooting, cybersecurity initiatives, patch management, bash scripting and containerization.

Essential Functions:

• Linux & Windows System Administration

• Administer RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, including user management, system monitoring, and troubleshooting

• Support Microsoft Windows Server (2016 or later) and Windows 10/11 client environments

• Perform imaging, provisioning, and lifecycle support for client systems

• Cybersecurity & Compliance

• Apply routine security patches and updates across server and client systems

• Assist with vulnerability mitigation and compliance activities

• Follow cybersecurity policies, STIGs, and baseline configurations

• Automation & Scripting

• Develop and maintain basic automation scripts using:

• Bash (Linux)

• PowerShell (Windows)

• Containerization & Storage

• Support containerized environments

• Perform routine Network Attached Storage (NAS) administration and maintenance

• Networking Fundamentals

• Apply foundational networking knowledge to troubleshoot high-volume data transfers

• Support network services in coordination with senior engineers

• Other duties as assigned

Required:

• 5+ years of hands-on system administration experience.

• Strong experience with both Linux (RHEL) and Microsoft environments.

• Working knowledge of patching, sustainment, and cybersecurity compliance.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Security Clearance:

• Active Top Secret required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
