Job description
The Managed Services Data Center Cloud Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day Team management and operational management of U.S.-based data center environments supporting internal systems and InterSystems' Clients. This role ensures high availability, operational excellence, and compliance across third-party facilities while coordinating closely with internal infrastructure, platform, and application teams.
The manager leads operations staff and vendors, governs colocation provider relationships, and supports modern infrastructure platforms including software-defined storage, converged infrastrus, and containerized environments.
Key Responsibilities
Data Center Operations
- Manage daily operations across one or more colocation data center facilities, serving as the primary operational point of contact
- Coordinate remote hands, maintenance windows, and incident response with colocation providers
- Ensure availability and reliability of power, cooling, space, network connectivity, and physical security
- Lead incident management and root cause analysis (RCA) involving internal teams and third-party providers
- Maintain and enforce SOPs, runbooks, access procedures, and escalation paths, Kubernetes platforms (e.g., Spectro Cloud-managed environments)
- Partner with Systems, Platform, and Cloud teams to support hardware lifecycle events, upgrades, and capacity expansions
- Ensure operational readiness for containerized and virtualized workloads deployed in colocation facilities
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop data center operations staff and contractors supporting colocation environments
- Define staffing models, on-call rotations, and escalation coverage
- Promote operational discipline, documentation quality, and continuous improvement
Vendor & Provider Management
- Manage colocation providers, hardware vendors, network carriers, and service partners
- Oversee SLAs, maintenance coordination, access controls, and service delivery
- Support contract reviews, renewals, and capacity planning discussions with providers
Capacity, Asset & Lifecycle Management
- Plan and manage rack space, power, and cooling capacity within colocation facilities
- Oversee hardware installs, decommissions, migrations, and inventory accuracy
- Maintain documentation for layouts, power chains, network connectivity, and platform dependencies
Security, Compliance & Risk
- Enforce physical security policies and access governance in third-party facilities
- Support audits and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC, ISO, HIPAA, PCI, as applicable)
- Identify operational risks related to colocation dependencies and drive mitigation strategies
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Solution Portfolio Director, Architecture Director, infrastructure architects and technical leadership to align data center operations with platform architecture, capacity planning, and long-term technology roadmaps
- Act as a key interface between Facilities, Network, Systems, Cloud, Security, and Application teams
- Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution
- Participate in change management, architecture reviews, and platform readiness assessments
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of data center or infrastructure operations experience, with significant colocation exposure
- 3+ years in a leadership or management role
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, racks, cabling, servers, and networking
- Experience coordinating operations across third-party providers
- Proven incident management, escalation, and problem-solving skills, * Experience operating multi-site or geographically distributed colocation environments
- Hands-on familiarity with:
- Coralogix
- Service Now
- Dell PowerFlex or similar SDS platforms
- Pure Storage or similar FC-Block SAN storage
- Broadcom VMware VCF
- Nutanix AHV and Cluster Management
- Kubernetes platforms in enterprise or regulated environments
- Certifications such as ITIL, CDCP/CDCS, PMP, or similar
- Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM), ServiceNow, asset management, and infrastructure monitoring tools, * Strong vendor and provider management skills
- Operational leadership in third-party environments
- Ability to bridge physical infrastructure and modern software platforms
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Process discipline, documentation, and change control
- Comfort operating in a 24x7, mission-critical environment

InterSystems is providing a current good faith estimate of the anticipated base salary range for this position depending on a variety of factors including experience, education, skills, and performance.
Other compensation may include a discretionary annual variable target incentive.

The estimated base compensation range for this role is:
$131,000 - $160,000 USD
