Sr. Solutions Architect, WWPS SA - NPO Research

AWS is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to join the World Wide Public Sector Nonprofits practice. You'll serve as the technical lead for a portfolio of nonprofit research organizations, helping them design and implement cloud architectures that advance science at scale., Own the technical engagement and success of customer implementation projects

• Design cloud architectures leveraging AWS services
• Provide thought leadership on security best practices for applications, servers, and networks
• Respond to RFPs and define implementation approaches
• Serve as a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services
• Lead whiteboard sessions, technical deep-dives, and presentations for audiences of all sizes
• Capture and share best practices across the SA community
• Collaborate with and learn from some of the brightest technical minds in enterprise architecture
• Mentor peers and customers while staying current on AWS innovations and industry trends
• Travel up to 30%

A day in the life You'll provide architectural and technical leadership to nonprofit customers leveraging AWS at scale. You'll guide design decisions with customer obsession, ensuring high availability and performance. You'll evangelize best practices, mentor others, and continuously grow your own expertise.

About the team We are a dedicated team of Solutions Architects working with nonprofits to amplify their mission outcomes in the research space.

Someone who is passionate about helping nonprofits achieve their missions through technology. You bring:

• Consultative skills - the ability to listen, understand customer needs, and translate them into technical solutions
• Technical leadership - comfort guiding architectural design decisions and deep-diving into implementation details
• Intellectual curiosity - a drive to keep your technical skills current while maintaining a pulse on industry trends
• Communication skills - experience presenting to small and large groups, from whiteboard sessions to executive briefings
• Operational awareness - understanding of web site/services operations, management, and security, 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
• 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
• 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
• 3+ years of experience in healthcare and life sciences, encompassing one or more of the following areas: clinical research, biomedical research, genomics, bioinformatics, and computational biology.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
• Experience working with end user or developer communities
• Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
• Knowledge of AWS services, market segments, customer base and industry verticals
• 5+ years of solving problems with technology in the Healthcare/Life Sciences Industry experience
• A degree in genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology or similar degree field is required.
