Ubuntu Linux Admin / Image Engineer

Logisolve is seeking an Ubuntu Linux Admin / Image Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our direct healthcare client in Plymouth, MN., The Ubuntu Linux Admin / Image Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and hardening a production-grade Ubuntu-based system image for NVIDIA Jetson edge devices. This includes system security configuration, container runtime hardening, device provisioning workflows, and OTA update readiness.

The role works closely with cloud and platform engineers to ensure secure integration with Azure IoT Edge and enterprise network infrastructure., Ubuntu Image Engineering & System Build

• Design and build a hardened Ubuntu-based OS image for NVIDIA Jetson devices
• Define and implement secure default system configurations for production deployment
• Establish repeatable image build and provisioning processes for manufacturing
• Configure system services, boot settings, and runtime dependencies for edge deployment

Linux Security Hardening

• Apply Ubuntu CIS hardening benchmarks and security best practices
• Configure secure SSH access, user management, and privilege controls
• Implement firewall rules and host-based network restrictions
• Secure USB and peripheral access policies for embedded environments
• Validate baseline system security posture for production readiness

Container & Edge Runtime Configuration

• Harden Docker runtime environment for edge workloads
• Support secure configuration of Microsoft Azure IoT Edge runtime on Ubuntu
• Ensure container isolation and restricted system access policies
• Assist in defining secure deployment patterns for edge modules

Device Provisioning & Deployment Support

• Develop secure device provisioning workflows for production manufacturing
• Configure certificate-based identity and trust setup (PKI integration)
• Support initial device setup scripts and configuration automation
• Ensure consistency across deployed devices through image-based provisioning

OTA Update & Lifecycle Readiness

• Support implementation of OTA update mechanisms for OS and system components
• Configure update-safe system partitioning and rollback considerations
• Assist in integrating Ubuntu Pro / Landscape for fleet management (if applicable)

Documentation & Compliance Support

• Document system image architecture, configuration, and hardening steps
• Provide deployment and recovery documentation for manufacturing and operations teams
• Support security validation efforts through documentation of applied controls

We are seeking a consultant with strong experience in Ubuntu Linux administration and image engineering to support the development and productionization of a NVIDIA Jetson-based edge gateway. The system runs Ubuntu and supports a connected medical device platform with secure cloud connectivity via Azure IoT Edge.

The focus of this role is on Ubuntu OS hardening, image creation, secure system configuration, and production deployment readiness for a regulated healthcare environment., * Strong experience with Ubuntu Linux system administration (preferably LTS versions)

• Experience building and maintaining custom Linux images for embedded or edge devices
• Knowledge of Linux security hardening (CIS benchmarks or similar standards)
• Experience with Docker in production or embedded environments
• Familiarity with device provisioning and system automation

Preferred Experience

• Experience with NVIDIA Jetson or similar embedded Linux platforms
• Exposure to Azure IoT Edge or similar edge computing frameworks
• Understanding of PKI, certificates, and secure device authentication
• Experience working in regulated environments (medical, industrial, or aerospace)
• Knowledge of OTA update systems and fleet management tools
