Job description
As a Sr Engineering Manager on the Applied Machine Learning team, you will lead a team software engineers building tools and platform at scale that powers Apple's enterprise GenAI efforts. You'll be responsible for the technical execution and delivery of GenAI platform with distributed compute, storage, ingestion and inference. You'll be working with the team of software engineers and machine learning engineers to build RAG and Agentic platform components. If you have a deep understanding for distributed systems, generative AI, strong engineering background and leadership experience, then this role may be a great one for you! In this role you will lead and mentor forward-thinking engineers and will own related activities and interactions with teams across Apple. You will work cross-functionally with key internal partners, researchers, product teams, and platform engineers for roadmap development and delivery of our products.
Requirements
10+ years of experience working on distributed system
6+ years of experience in management or leadership role
Deep understanding of GenAI fundamentals
Deep understanding of Java, C, C++ or similar programming language
Deep understanding of distributed system like flink, spark, NoSql etc.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Track record of leading teams and delivering complex AI projects from conception to production
Strong communication skills
Understanding of LLM inference and deployment
Understanding of RAG and Agentic systems
Past experience leading a scalable platform team

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $198,300 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
