Job description
The Senior Cloud Services Engineer is responsible for the design, operational excellence, and evolution of enterprise automation platforms used across Humana. This role provides technical leadership for onboarding enablement, platform architecture, governance, and automation strategy, enabling internal teams to deliver at scale.
The Senior Cloud Services Engineer is a hands-on technical leader responsible for the design, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise automation platforms. This role partners with internal teams to enable scalable automation, establish platform standards, and drive reliability, security, and usability across shared services. The Senior Engineer operates with a high degree of autonomy, influencing platform strategy while owning day-to-day technical outcomes.
Initial focus may include support of platforms such as:
- Terraform Cloud
- Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
- Temporal Cloud
Platform assignment may evolve based on business need and team alignment.
Responsibilities
- Lead platform architecture decisions and influence roadmap planning
- Define onboarding patterns, tenant models, and access control strategies
- Establish and evolve platform operating standards, guardrails, and best practices
- Act as a technical owner for assigned platforms, accountable for reliability, scalability, and security
- Lead incident root cause analysis and drive preventative improvements
- Configure platform access controls, namespaces, and tenant settings
- Coordinate SaaS connectivity and enterprise networking requirements
- Maintain architecture diagrams, onboarding documentation, and operational runbooks
- Lead in business-hours operational support and incident triage
- Proactively identify inefficiencies and automate repetitive processes
- Design and develop automation solutions
- Operate independently within defined enterprise standards and guardrails
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and onboarding teams

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in automation, DevOps, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or application support
- Demonstrated experience designing, delivering, and operating automation or platforms used by multiple teams
- Experience owning production platforms or services with broad organizational usage
- Experience making architectural or design decisions in complex environments
- Experience balancing security, scalability, and developer experience
- Proven ability to lead work independently and influence without authority
- Ability to script in Python, PowerShell, or similar language
- Experience working in a cloud environment (Azure preferred)
- Understanding of SaaS integration patterns and networking fundamentals
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
- Operate autonomously and lead through influence, * Experience supporting or developing cloud-based applications
- Hands-on experience designing or operating workflow orchestration platforms at scale
- Advanced experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent), including module design and governance
- Experience with enterprise automation platforms
- Experience integrating with REST APIs

Benefits & conditions
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$106,900 - $147,000 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
