Job description
As a Cloud Application Tester II, you will be responsible for validating, testing, and ensuring the quality, security, and compliance of automated infrastructure deployments across cloud environments. This role focuses on developing and executing test strategies for IaC templates and modules, ensuring infrastructure is reliable, repeatable, and aligned with enterprise and DoD standards. These activities support the assessment and validation of system capabilities to ensure alignment with program requirements and operational objectives.
Utilizes trends, metrics, and analytical insights to identify opportunities for improvement within existing testing frameworks, tools, and processes, helping enhance efficiency, reliability, and overall system performance., * Develop and execute test strategies for IaC templates and modules (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance

Validate infrastructure deployments using automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Terratest, Checkov, tfsec)

Perform static code analysis, linting, and validation of IaC artifacts prior to deployment

Analyze and review terraform plan outputs (or equivalent) to identify unintended changes, risks, or misconfigurations

Design and implement automated tests within CI/CD pipelines to enforce quality gates for infrastructure deployments

Validate deployed infrastructure across environments (dev, test, production) to ensure consistency and alignment with requirements

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve configuration drift between declared and deployed infrastructure

Conduct failure and rollback testing to ensure resilience and recoverability of infrastructure deployments

Ensure IaC implementations align with security and compliance requirements (e.g., RMF, NIST, least privilege, logging, and auditing standards)

Collaborate with cloud engineers, DevOps teams, and security stakeholders to improve infrastructure quality and testing practices

Document testing procedures, validation results, and best practices for IaC testing and governance

Ensure 100% of planned hours are worked and recorded

Identify and forward to your leadership any opportunities that could lead to growth within your work area

Participate in growth efforts as requested

Ensure all contractual deliverables are met/exceeded to the customer's satisfaction

Complete personal PDP and attend Staff Meeting and Storytime (with camera on)

Within your program, build productive and positive professional relationships with clients

Execute all contract requirements as assigned in accordance with the contract-specific LCAT and requirements

Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or related field with at least 8 years of relevant experience in systems testing, verification and validation, or test engineering. Or Master's degree and 6+ years of experience.

Experience with designing and executing test plans, scripts, and scenarios

Hands-on experience testing IaC using tools

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system issues

Knowledge of test automation tools and methodologies for improving efficiency

Experience with AWS cloud services and environments

DoD 8570 / 8140 IAT Level II certification

At least one cloud certification
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies, including continuous integration and deployment practices

Understanding of quality assurance principles and best practices in system testing

Strong technical documentation skills for reporting test results and identifying process improvements

The proposed salary range for this position is $95,000-$115,000. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
