Job description

ECS is seeking a Cloud Engineer to work in our Springfield, VA office.

ECS Federal is seeking a Cloud Engineer (AWS) to support mission-critical Intelligence Community (IC) programs, including systems enabling GEOINT, SIGINT, and all-source analysis. This position will also support mission programs focused on the development and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud-based solutions.

In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers to design, deploy, and maintain secure AWS cloud environments that support data-driven mission operations. You will contribute to cloud modernization efforts, help automate infrastructure, and support scalable, resilient systems in classified environments.

This position is ideal for engineers looking to grow their skills in AWS, Azure, DevSecOps, and IC mission systems while making a direct impact on national security., * Support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of AWS and Azure cloud environments, including GovCloud and classified regions

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and business teams to deliver scalable, secure cloud solutions
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Support DevOps/DevSecOps pipelines using tools such as GitLab and CI/CD frameworks
  • Monitor and maintain system performance, availability, and security compliance (patching, STIGs, remediation)
  • Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, network controls, and secure configurations
  • Support containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across cloud, network, and application layers
  • Maintain technical documentation, including system architecture and configurations
  • Engage with stakeholders, including government customers and program leadership, to communicate progress and solutions
  • Contribute to innovation efforts, solution design, and proposal support as needed

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain CI Poly
  • Must be able to be on-site in a SCIF 4 days a week
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud engineering, systems engineering, or DevOps
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform required; CloudFormation preferred)
  • Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools (GitLab, Jenkins, or similar).
  • Strong Linux administration experience (patching, STIG compliance, configuration, troubleshooting)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Scripting/programming experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (VPCs, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, firewalls)
  • Experience implementing cloud security controls (IAM, encryption, security groups, policies)
  • DoD 8570 certification (Security+ or higher) required

Desired Skills

  • Experience working in classified cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, C2S)
  • AWS Certification (Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps; Professional preferred)
  • Experience with Azure cloud services and hybrid cloud architectures
  • Experience with AI/ML services (e.g., AWS SageMaker or similar platforms)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration experience
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and advanced CI/CD practices
  • Knowledge of data management, security, and compliance frameworks
  • ITIL Foundation certification
