Backend Java Engineer

Our client is looking for a strong Backend Java Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and documenting the back-end services for the their mobile app and website while coaching and mentoring junior resources and collaborating with other team members and stakeholders. You will also drive best practices, ensure the technical feasibility of integrations, and optimize the application for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability. You will investigate and utilize Google Cloud Platform services to continuously improve application architecture and implement microservices using Java and Quarkus framework. You will propose and enhance automation initiatives related to infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring and alerting and contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle. This is an established company and environment with a start up feel so you must be able work in a fast paced environment and used to timelines that are in days instead of weeks. This role is fully remote as a contractor and long term. The hourly compensation ranges from $50-55/hour depending upon years of experience.

• 8+ years of experience as a backend engineer within a Java environment
• Java version 17 and above
• Multi Cloud experience (GCP, AWS, Azure)
• Interest in working with modern tools & Technologies
• Open-source Java framework experience (Quarkus, Spring)
• Microservices experience
• Able to work in a very fast paced environment
• Experience and willingness to be testing your own code - Payments or AdTech experience
• Terraform experience
• Start up experience
