Job description
You could be progressing your career as a Lead Backend Engineer, working on complex systems for the core product, a financial operating system for live events which reduces queue times for customers and maximises revenue for vendors.
What you'll do:
- Lead sprint planning and delivery, ensuring predictable, high-quality output
- Set and enforce engineering standards and Definition of Done across all work
- Act as technical lead; design solutions, review code and drive best practices
- Own CI/CD quality gates, testing strategy and codebase improvements
- Take responsibility for production reliability, monitoring and incident response
- Drive post-release validation and continuous improvement
- Coach and mentor engineers, supporting growth and performance
- Lead technical hiring and identify skill gaps within the team
- Ensure secure coding practices and compliance across all deliverables
Requirements
Initially (first 6 month) you'll be expected to join the team in the London office 3-4 days a week so you can get a full understanding of the product and the team, following this there's lots of flexibility including the ability to work abroad for part of the year., * You have a strong hands-on, backend engineering background with leadership experience
- You have expertise with Node.js combined with strong PostgreSQL database skills
- You have a good knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript
- You have experience of owning delivery end-to-end in Agile environments
- You have a passion for code quality, reliability and team development
- You have experience of working with cloud platforms, CI/CD and modern architectures
- You have a strong appreciation of security best practices
