Job description
Description We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to strengthen a growing cloud security program in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This position will focus on protecting Azure and Microsoft 365 environments through secure design, identity governance, threat detection, and operational improvements. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with cloud platforms, modern security tooling, and cross-functional collaboration to reduce risk and support a resilient technology environment., * Architect and support secure cloud solutions across Azure and Microsoft 365, ensuring platforms are configured to meet security and operational standards.

Establish and manage identity and access protections by enforcing conditional access, role-based permissions, and zero trust security practices.

Investigate alerts and suspicious activity using enterprise security platforms, then coordinate timely response and remediation efforts.

Evaluate cloud environments for vulnerabilities and misconfigurations, and drive corrective actions to improve overall security posture.

Build and maintain automation scripts in PowerShell, Python, or similar languages to improve efficiency in security administration and monitoring.

Partner with DevOps and infrastructure teams to embed security controls into deployment workflows using infrastructure-as-code and pipeline automation tools.

Support adherence to recognized security frameworks and regulatory expectations through policy alignment, control validation, and audit readiness activities.

Troubleshoot complex issues affecting cloud, network, and endpoint security technologies, providing practical solutions across interconnected systems.

Create and update technical documentation covering configurations, procedures, incident findings, and recommended best practices.
Requirements

Work closely with internal stakeholders on security initiatives, platform enhancements, and ongoing risk reduction projects. Requirements * At least 5 years of experience in IT, including a strong background in cybersecurity or cloud security engineering.

Practical experience administering Azure and securing Microsoft 365 enterprise environments.

Hands-on knowledge of identity and access management, incident response, and cloud security configuration.

Experience with security technologies such as Microsoft Defender, Fortinet, SentinelOne, Rapid7, Entra ID, or similar enterprise platforms.

Familiarity with firewall and network security concepts, including technologies such as Check Point or Cisco ASA.

Ability to develop scripts or automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, or comparable tools.

Understanding of security compliance frameworks and controlled environments relevant to enterprise operations.
