Job description
This is a Senior Infrastructure Engineer role within Companies House Digital, specialising in Linux and Storage infrastructure.
You'll support and modernise the platforms that underpin core UK company services, from registration and dissolution to the secure storage of company information required under the Companies Act.

- Keep critical systems reliable, secure and performant
- Support both customer-facing services and backend databases
- Play an active role in migrating on-premise services to the cloud
- Help modernise infrastructure using automation and cloud technologies
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux & Storage), you'll:
- Support Linux and Storage platforms providing 8:30am-5pm cover
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota (with additional allowance)
- Respond to and resolve incidents within agreed targets
- Proactively monitor systems and prevent issues before they occur
- Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Contribute to cloud migration projects (on-prem * cloud)
- Design and implement configuration and upgrade pathways
- Install, configure and decommission infrastructure as needed
- Maintain system documentation and keep the CMDB up to date
- Work in line with Change Management processes at all times
Requirements
- Linux administration, including virtualisation
- AWS cloud technologies
- Automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible and Concourse
- Storage / SAN technologies, including NetApp CVO / FSx
- Working calmly under pressure and prioritising effectively
- Collaborating in technical teams and sharing knowledge
- Communicating clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues
- Working with third-party suppliers to resolve complex issues
