Job description
The Middleware Engineer oversees daily Middleware system administration and collaborates with Enterprise Architects and IT teams to manage data integration between internal and cloud applications. You will leverage in-depth knowledge of integration patterns and platforms (Mulesoft, Axway MFT, Next Axiom, etc.) to design, configure, and maintain a coherent distributed middleware environment. Position Specific Responsibilities 1. Middleware Platform Management Administration: Provide support for AnyPoint Platform and Axway MFT; maintain the service catalog. Architecture & Design: Partner with architects to translate requirements into scalable API solutions and identify reuse opportunities. Lifecycle Support: Coordinate with vendors for upgrades, perform troubleshooting, incident response, and timely patching. Process Improvement: Develop standard processes for installation and maintenance; automate manual tasks for efficiency. Collaboration: Partner with QA and Release Management for testing/deployment; work with developers on configurations. 2. Planning & Execution Project Prep: Actively involve in project preparation using bottom-up planning. Estimation: Provide high-level and detailed estimates; decompose work into manageable packages. Prioritization: Balance multiple projects and competing priorities effectively. 3. Technical Leadership Alignment: Ensure teams are aligned with architectural direction, scope, quality, and timelines. Guidance: Communicate concepts and guidelines to the development team to ensure design consistency. General Accountabilities Safety: Adhere to the District s Safety Manual and stop work if safety risks exist. Compliance: Maintain knowledge of OPPD policies and Federal/State laws. Continuous Improvement: Research modern practices and automate tasks via scripting. Fiscal Accountability: Adhere to budget policies and care for corporate property. Requirements
Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. Experience: * 5+ years in Software Engineering (Senior-level design). 3+ years in software application development. 3+ years with Middleware platforms (Anypoint, Axway MFT, API Management). Technical Skills: SOA & Web Services: XML, SOAP, WSDL, XSD, UDDI, REST. Databases: JDBC, SQL Server, or Oracle. Patterns: Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP), Message Exchange Patterns. Languages: Java and Groovy. Tools: CI/CD pipelines, Source Control (Git/BitBucket, SVN, etc.), and Agile methodologies. Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently or collaboratively. Desired Experience with large-scale integration projects and multi-sourced data sets. Knowledge of server architecture and management. Familiarity with Jenkins, Ansible, or SharePoint.
