Job description
Responsible for the planning, designing, implementation, analysis, equipment, and performance specifications for the District- wide network and network infrastructure integrated-service areas, to include wireless and Voice over IP (VoIP) communications. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position. Provide supervision, expertise and guidance to network, wireless, and VoIP communications areas which maintain and monitor the District wide network and network infrastructure on a daily basis. Perform network security protocols, maintenance, and troubleshoot network to ensure stability and availability for District employees. Monitor, analyze, and identify network strengths, weaknesses, and potential benefits for the District. Anticipate and make improvement recommendations for network usage patterns relating to future increases in general usage and number of users. Monitor the networks' complex operating parameters and set goals for service availability, response time, traffic routing, and overall network efficiency and make appropriate updates. Report health statistics of the Cisco Call Manager, Unified Messaging, wireless, and Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN). Review performance analysis reports to guarantee compliance with network specifications for software and hardware. Develop performance and configuration specifications for network equipment and develop Request for Proposals (RFPs) or Statement of Works (SOWs) relating to network infrastructure, wireless and VoIP communications, or network services. Responsible for the integration of existing departmental or multi-departmental local area networks. Confirm existing LANs meet current standards and are smoothly integrated into the network's directory services and management and monitoring systems. Manage a plan of action for the networks infrastructure's growth to include proposals, review, implementation, testing, and validation to guarantee network changes and updates produce the desired results. Certify network documentation is accurately maintained such as topology diagrams, circuit or equipment, inventories, and configuration reports. Responsible for the installation, upgrade, and initial configuration of high-capacity routers and Ethernet switches. Responsible for personnel management activities of assigned staff including recommendation for employment, supervision, performance evaluation, professional development, training, and compliance with policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA), or obtain Cisco certification within six (6) months of hire.

Effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal, organizational, supervisory and planning skills.

Experience performing basic and complex network, wireless and VoIP troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on high-capacity routers and Ethernet switches.

Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of Information Technology, networks, Internet technologies, server and systems administration, data protection, and disaster recovery strategies.

Experience in packet capturing and interpretation.

Experience in Network Design and comprehensive knowledge of IP routing and T1/PRI/ISDN circuits.

Experience generating and reviewing performance analysis reports and generating proposals.

Must be available to remain on-call and work after hours with the ability to respond to correct systems problems and meet system installation and maintenance intervals.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience with fiber optic network, wireless equipment, and Cisco Call Manager. Special Conditions:

Thereafter, motor vehicle records checks will be conducted annually.
