Job description
As a Senior System Engineer - VDI, you will be part The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) team and responsible for the design, development and operations of a high-end remote Workstation environment in AWS cloud. The VDI team provisions based on demand so that users can efficiently run their applications and securely access their data in AWS cloud.
The goal is to migrate existing workflows from on-prem datacentres to cloud and unlock new opportunities for the users to run their graphics intensive and machine learning workflows on infrastructure than meets their requirements. We work following Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile principles and methodologies. Our Tech stack: AWS, Leostream, DCV, Windows, Linux, PingID, AD, Packer, Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, Docker, EKS, Dynatrace, PowerShell, Python, Bash, Linux, and much more!, Optimize and maintain high-end remote Workstation environment on AWS cloud to support applications and workflows. . Designing, planning, sizing and deploying applications and Infrastructure on AWS cloud. . Automate and streamline workstation- and application provisioning and configuration with tools and technologies such as Terraform, Packer, Ansible, GitHub Actions. . Build Amazon Machine Images with required applications and configuration based on approved golden images. . Apply Windows operating system settings and policies to assure optimal user experience on non-persistent remote workstations. . Assure patching compliance and remediate vulnerabilities for infrastructure components and workstations. . Monitor and optimize system- and application performance, reliability, and security. . Integrate with enterprise Identity and Access Management system like (Azure) Active Directory and PingID. . Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures. . Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that occur. . Contribute to successful IT project delivery within agreed time and budget. . Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve our solutions., This temporary contract is inside IR35 and will require working under the direction of the client delivery manager as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will follow established delivery processes and working practices
Requirements
- Packer (Windows AMI/Azure Image Builder equivalent)
- Golden image lifecycle, versioning, CI/CD integration
Configuration management
- Ansible (Windows modules, WinRM, DSC integration)
- Idempotent configs, role-based playbooks
High-Performance Computing/GPU VDI
- NVIDIA drivers (GRID/CUDA)
- Remote protocols (DCV, PCoIP, HDX)
- Workloads like Petrel, OpenGL/Qt, CUDA, MPI (nice-to-have)
Operating model

- Strong troubleshooting/RCA mindset, Strong expertise in design, deployment and management of remote desktop solutions like Leostream, VMware Horizon and/or Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub. . Expertise in remote desktop and visualization protocols such as AWS DCV, HP Remote Boost, PCoIP and/or HDX. . Strong expertise in (Azure) Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows services. . Expertise in Windows profile management and user data solutions such as FSLogix and OneDrive. . Experience with application deployment and streaming technologies such as SCCM, App-V and AWS AppStream. . Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, Packer and Ansible. . Experience with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) and Agile methodologies. . Proficiency in Scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python (3.x) and bash script. . Relevant certifications (eg, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, VMware Certified Professional are highly preferable). . Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. . Strong communication and collaboration abilities. . Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
