Job description
Client is looking for a Backend Data Engineer to develop and maintain RESTful APIs, data pipelines, and database systems for a Public Health Data Portal. The role involves backend service development, ETL processing, and scalable data architecture to support both public and administrative use cases., * Develop RESTful APIs and backend services using PHP (CodeIgniter/Laravel/Symfony)
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and synchronization
- Design and optimize SQL Server databases and data models
- Implement data quality checks, logging, and error handling
- Integrate with AWS services (RDS, Redis, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support CI/CD processes
Requirements
- 6+ years of backend development experience
- Strong PHP (8.x) and REST API development
- Expertise in SQL Server (2019/2022), T-SQL, and performance tuning
- Experience with ETL, batch processing, and data transformation
- Knowledge of data validation, deduplication, and integrity controls
- Familiarity with AWS and unit testing (PHPUnit)
