Job description
Kforce's client is seeking a Senior IBM i (iSeries/AS400) System Administrator to support and maintain a mission-critical IBM i platform in an enterprise environment. This is a hands-on role responsible for system stability, performance, and ongoing operational support. What You'll Do:
- Administer and support IBM i environments across production, non-production, and DR
- Support IBM POWER8, POWER9, POWER10, and POWER11 systems running IBM i 7.x
- Perform OS upgrades, PTF installation, firmware coordination, and routine maintenance
- Manage LPARs and system resources
- Monitor and tune system performance (CPU, memory, disk, workloads)
- Troubleshoot application, subsystem, job, and DB2 for i issues
- Support backups, recovery, IPLs, and incident response
- Administer IBM i security (user profiles, object authorities, auditing)
- Document procedures and support runbooks
Act as an escalation point for complex IBM i issues
Requirements
- Strong enterprise experience administering IBM i (iSeries / AS400)
- Hands-on experience with IBM POWER systems (8-11)
- Solid knowledge of IBM i 7.x
- Experience supporting production, mission-critical systems
Nice to Have:
- PTF management and system upgrade experience
- Backup, disaster recovery, or high-availability exposure
- Strong documentation and communication skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
