Job description
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer SME to design, implement, and maintain robust network infrastructures that support our organization's critical operations. This role combines strategic network planning with hands-on technical implementation, requiring expertise in network architecture, performance optimization, and collaborative problem-solving., Design, configure and maintain network infrastructure(s)
- Perform network designs and networks
- Plan network configurations for integration into the network and ensure effective integration and optimal network performance
- Prepare technical proposals for presentation to the Sponsor's engineering review boards for approval prior to the addition of new technologies to the network
- Perform operational and maintenance activities
- Utilize network analysis tools to identify performance problems in the network
- Troubleshoot to restore network to optimal performance levels
- Assist and prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Review user requests for upgrades/additions to the network to assess impact on network performance and provide advice/guidance on the most practical/cost-benefit technical approach
- Analyze customer requirements and solve problems with innovative solutions
- Provide expert knowledge for maintenance and upgrade of networks including Linux systems, F5 load-balancers, routers, switches, scripting languages, and networks
- Provide expert knowledge to sustain network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintain system backup and recovery capability
- Coordinate the acquisition of hardware and software
- Create plans and configure systems for data communication networks
- Design and build hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks
- Evaluate new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities
- Stay current on knowledge of relevant technology
- Serve as a task lead and be recognized as a SME in network engineering
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in network design and administration
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and security technologies
- Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills for presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Industry certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent) preferred
