Job description
The System Administrator II supports Closed Area operations by providing advanced workstation, server, and network support within a secure environment. This role requires hands-on technical skill, strong problem solving ability, and strict adherence to security and operational standards. The L2 technician is responsible for provisioning systems, supporting end users, and ensuring stable, secure computing environments., Maintain hardware infrastructure within secured network lab environments Deploy and provision virtual desktops and servers using VMware Install, configure, and support complex applications with multi component integrations Peer review installation and configuration documentation for completeness and accuracy Troubleshoot complex application, OS, and integration issues Create and maintain Active Directory and Remote Access/VPN user accounts Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot mandated secure Group Policy solutions Interface with customers, vendors, and SMEs to resolve technical issues Perform system backups and restores Participate in process development and improvement efforts Maintain update services for software applications and infrastructure Recommend hardware architectures and software tools as needed Support and maintain multiple license server implementations Support and provide guidance on PKI infrastructure Deliver end-user support in Closed Areas, including desktops, laptops, and workstations Perform IMACD activities (install, move, add, change, dispose) Support dedicated network infrastructure from an operational/maintenance perspective Install OS updates, software releases, upgrades, and patches using WSUS and SCCM Provide follow up on outstanding issues and escalations
Requirements
Active DoD TS SCI clearance required CompTIA Security+ CE required Minimum 3 years of relevant experience integrating, configuring, and troubleshooting a broad range of technologies Must support both Windows and Linux environments Windows 10/11 RHEL 8/9
Familiarity with: Server-based technologies Unix/Linux and Windows OS High-performance computing environments Development, production, and application servers Windows/Linux desktop systems Basic network topology concepts
Ability to install and maintain Microsoft Windows 10/11 and RHEL 8/9 OS Ability to install software releases, upgrades, patches, and resolve hardware/software issues Experience with Active Directory administration Experience with basic VMware provisioning (VM creation, resource assignment, templates) Experience with WSUS and SCCM for patch management Must have experience with both HP AND Dell hardware Strong communication and interpersonal skills Self sufficient, self directed, and capable of working in dynamic environments, Experience managing assets through network based tools (AV, backup/recovery, vulnerability scanning, GPO, auditing) Experience with server roles (SQL, Web, Exchange) Experience writing or editing technical documentation Basic scripting or automation exposure (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
